This is a proposal for an extensively researched international wartime drama, developed with unique personal access to the story.
I am seeking potential coproducers to help realize the project at the level its story deserves.
AT A GLANCE
TAGLINE :
Political mystery thriller based on the real fates of three Polish airmen fighting under Allied command during the Second World War.

Second World War historical drama / Political mystery thriller / Psychological drama.
ENGLISH WORKING TITLE :
Night Mission – 305 Bomber Squadron
FORMAT :
Prestige limited series — six one-hour episodes. Alternative formats remain possible.
LANGUAGES :
Polish and English, with French elements.
SCOPE :
Pre-war Poland – France – Britain – postwar Communist Poland.
CONCEPT
This is a prestige historical drama with international potential, built around the intertwined fates of three real Polish airmen whose lives span the romance of early aviation in the 1930s, the experience of bomber warfare, and the political upheavals of postwar Europe.
It combines the operational intensity of a war drama, the moral ambiguity of a political thriller and the intimacy of a character study. At its heart is the gap between what these men believed they were fighting for and the very different destinies that awaited them.
TONE AND APPROACH
The series moves through three distinct worlds: the more light-hearted, sunlit world of interwar aviation; the confined and increasingly tense world of bomber warfare; and the unsettled postwar order in which victory brings neither resolution nor justice.
The tone changes with them. The early romance and adventure of flying give way to the darkness, cold and psychological pressure of bomber operations, and finally to a quieter disillusionment. Combat is experienced rather than spectacular, while the story offers many cinematic and emotionally powerful moments centred on relationships, separation, loyalty, survival and the consequences of war.
PRODUCTION
Aviation is central to the series, but it does not depend on continuous aerial action. The first episode requires significant pre-war flying sequences, and bomber operations recur throughout the story, but much of the drama takes place on the ground and is driven by human interaction.
Bomber combat is seen primarily from the crews' perspective — confined, physical and psychological rather than aerobatics-driven.
DEVELOPMENT STATUS
The underlying story, extensive research and six-episode structure are substantially developed, with a detailed series overview and episode breakdowns available. There is currently no screenplay, leaving scope for the project to be developed creatively with the right production and writing partners.
ORIGINS AND ACCESS
One of the three central airmen, Mietek, was my father. The project draws on extensive primary and historical research, family material, and contacts with subject-matter experts in Poland and the United Kingdom.
This personal connection provides unusual access to the human story behind the historical events, while the wider research allows the series to extend well beyond one family's experience.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
I am the originator of the project, not a screenwriter. I am looking for producers, coproducers and creative partners interested in developing the material into an ambitious international production.
